Safety First
Contractor performance
The specialized nature of mine exploration and development requires the involvement of skilled contractors, and these workers are welcomed as a part of our company's extended workforce. All Resolution Copper contractors are expected to adhere to the company's safety standards, and their 2008 safety performance was exemplary. Primary contractors, DalMolin Excavating and Cementation USA, as well as other Resolution Project contractors, completed 2008 with zero injuries resulting in lost time on the job.
Resolution Contractor Cementation USA also reached a major accident-free milestone during the year. Cementation workers completed sinking a 28-foot diameter mine shaft down to the 190-foot level. In the process, they also lined the mine shaft with concrete and installed all needed infrastructure, including water, air and vent lines, and electrical and communication cables. Finally, they installed five working decks to be used in furthering the shaft sink and infrastructure installation. All work was completed without a safety incident.
