Our Workforce

Workforce demographics

Our approach to hiring mirrors our commitment to community. We hire locally whenever possible. A comparison of demographics for 2008 versus 2007 illustrates fluctuations in our workforce year to year. As a mining project in the early stages of exploration and development, we do not necessarily follow the same linear employment growth of other businesses. Some phases of our project require large teams of employees and contractors, and when a major task is completed, the contractor workforce may be temporarily reduced. Economic conditions such as the 2008 downturn can also affect workforce levels. However, at any stage of operation, in any economic climate, we are committed to local hire and to forging strong, long-lasting ties with our employees, suppliers and contractors.
