Sustainable Development

Maintaining the balance

Try googling "sustainable development" and you'll find more than 100 different definitions of the term, though perhaps the best known is "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

Put another way, sustainable development means that we must maintain a balance between the human desire to improve quality of life and achieve a sense of well-being on the one hand, and on the other, the increasingly pressing need to preserve the natural resources and ecosystems on which future generations will depend. (Global Development Resource Center).

Today, businesses have a critical role in contributing to this balance. At Resolution Copper, we integrate social, environmental and economic responsibility into the core of our business approach. By doing so, we can provide value to future generations that will last well beyond the life of the mine we seek to operate.
