Workforce Case Study: Retrain and Retain

During times of workforce transition, we are also committed to retraining and retaining employees whenever possible. During the latter part of 2008, the sudden and severe economic downturn forced us to alter our scope of work and to reorder operational priorities. Geologists, supervisors and core handlers whose employment with Resolution Copper would have been impacted by these changes were instead retrained by other company employees to operate and manage our Superior-based water treatment plant. This plant will be used to treat water extracted from a legacy mine shaft. The treated water will then be reused for irrigation of Arizona agricultural lands.

This retraining effort is an example of how Resolution Copper strives to support the economic well-being of our employees, many of whom are from local communities. Retraining contributes to individual career development and supports our goal of retaining individuals who are motivated and productive performers.
