Preparing tomorrow's workforce
Because the Resolution Project is still in the early stages of mine exploration and development, mine production will not begin until 2020. But we are preparing now for our skilled workforce of tomorrow and, as always, our emphasis is on developing and hiring local workers. Each summer, we offer an internship program that gives students from local schools the opportunity to supplement their education by working at Resolution Copper. From May through August, 2008, six students representing Superior, Gold Canyon, Tempe, Gilbert and Mesa worked alongside RCM employees in a variety of departments, including Safety, IS&T, Environmental, Pre-Feasibility and Mine Engineering. These young people are pursuing a range of academic disciplines, including environmental, education, industrial psychology, veterinary medicine, communications and mine engineering.
At the conclusion of the intern program, all interns resumed their college studies, and one, Senyssa Manriquez, remains with Resolution Copper part-time as she finishes her schooling. Congratulations and thanks to our 2008 Resolution Copper interns: Meghan Almaas, Alex Weir, Senyssa Manriquez, Vince Navarro, Jenna Krohn and Karen Ross.
