Boyce Thompson Arboretum and Resolution Copper Team Up for a $750,000 Boost in Educational Programs

Boyce Thompson Arboretum (BTA) and Resolution Copper are taking education to the next level! We’re beyond excited to announce a game-changing $750,000 investment in BTA’s educational programs, kicking off a three-year journey to create new opportunities for learning and discovery in the Copper Corridor.

“We’re excited to partner with Boyce Thompson Arboretum and can’t wait to see the impact this investment will have on the community,” said Bryan Seppala, Principal Advisor of Economic Development and Social Investment at Resolution Copper.

What does this mean for the community? First on the agenda: a complete revamp of BTA’s Children’s Garden! Imagine a kid-friendly nature wonderland where children can explore interactive play stations, get their hands dirty, and learn about the desert environment. It’s all part of the first phase of the Children’s Garden renovation, set to spark curiosity and a love for nature in young minds.

But it doesn’t stop there. BTA is adding an Education Director to its team, tasked with developing exciting new programs and deepening ties with local schools. Plus, thanks to Resolution Copper’s funding, BTA will soon roll out teacher workshops to help local educators develop STEM-focused curricula and lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of Copper Corridor schools.

And there’s more—BTA’s new co-branded outreach vehicle will bring all these fantastic educational programs directly to schools, making sure students don’t miss out on hands-on, nature-based learning experiences. In the years to come, this partnership will also help develop the Ayer Lake Learning Center and Discovery Trail, expanding BTA’s role as a regional hub for environmental education.

“This funding from Resolution Copper is a game changer for us,” said Kim Gray, Executive Director of BTA. “Together, we’re growing opportunities for learning and exploration right here in the Copper Corridor.”

Over the next three years, we’ll be working with BTA to bring even more exciting projects to life, including the Ayer Lake Learning Center and Discovery Trail. At Resolution Copper, we believe in the power of education to transform communities. With this partnership, we’re proud to help grow the next generation of environmental stewards right here in the Copper Corridor!
