From Apprentice to Mentor: Powering the Future

At Resolution Copper, we’re not just building a mine. We’re investing in people and lifelong careers.

Carlos’ mining journey started just a few miles from where he works today. A 2006 graduate of Superior High School, he grew up watching the legacy of mining shape his hometown. He didn’t wait long to jump in by 2007, he was underground, working on Shaft #9 with Cementation. In 2017, Carlos officially joined Resolution Copper and brought his years of experience with him. When we launched our very first Electrical Apprenticeship Program in 2018, Carlos didn’t just participate, he helped pioneer it. He earned his Electrical Journeyman Certificate and became a go-to expert underground. Today, with nearly 18 years on the project and 8 years with Resolution Copper, Carlos has become a integral part of our electrical crew. And now, he’s paying it forward, helping mentor the next generation of electricians.

“To be able to help someone else grow in their career, especially someone from right here in Superior – really means a lot to me. This is our community, and we’re building something that’ll last,” says Carlos.

That’s where Jesus comes in. Born and raised in Superior, Jesus grew up hearing the hum of mining all around him. It wasn’t just part of the landscape; it was an integral part of his community. After graduating from Superior High School in 2019, he didn’t wait to get started. He took an entry-level role at the Core Plant Facility as a Core Handler, learning the basics of geology, sampling, and how the exploration side of mining fits into the bigger picture.

But Jesus wanted to learn a trade, something that could grow with him. So, in 2022, he enrolled in Resolution Copper’s Electrical Apprenticeship Program. With Carlos as one of his mentors, he’s spent the past few years learning how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot the complex electrical systems that keep the project running 24/7. Jesus says, “I’m just getting started, but I’ve got solid ground to stand on thanks to all the people at Resolution Copper showing me the way.”

Now, he’s on track to earn his Electrical Journeyman Certificate in 2026, setting him up for a long and rewarding career in mining, right here at home in the Copper Triangle.

Two Generations. One Shared Goal. Carlos and Jesus might be a decade apart in age, but they share the same commitment: to grow their careers, support their community, and power the future of mining in Arizona.

This is more than a job. It’s a legacy. This is what investing in people looks like.
