One Shift, One Team: A Big Win at 10 Shaft
At Resolution Copper, success isn’t just measured in tons moved or hours logged.
It’s in how we show up for each other, work together, and take pride in doing things the right way.
That spirit was on full display during the recent 10 Shaft Auxiliary Sheave Replacement. The job? Safely remove and replace a critical hoist component, all within a single shift. And our teams nailed it.
A Job That Mattered
The auxiliary sheave plays a key role in the hoist system that moves people and materials in and out of the shaft. When the original reached the end of its life, a replacement was essential for safety and reliability.
But this wasn’t your average lift. It called for precision, planning, and people who know how to get the job done right.
How It Happened
Crews from Ops, Maintenance, and Hoist worked side by side. Certified riggers and a 300-ton crane helped handle the heavy lifting. The plan was solid:
- Bull rig the sheave into position
- Connect to the crane
- Lift and align using pre-surveyed set points
- Reinstall the clevis and reconnect rigging
- Final alignment and run test
From prep to commissioning, everything ran like clockwork, because of strong planning, good communication, and total trust across teams.
What It Meant
For some of our newer crew, this was hands-on learning at its best.
For veterans, it was a proud reminder of what collaboration looks like in real time.
Once installed, the crane and rigging were carefully demobilized. Maintenance followed through with commissioning and alignment, bringing the system back online and ready for release.
Why It Worked
- Strong planning and preparation
- Clear roles and communication
- A safety-first mindset
- Teamwork across departments
